How Sparkasse UnnaKamen digitised its sustainability report

Sparkasse UnnaKamen is the leading financial institution in the North Rhine-Westphalian area with 420 employees, 9 branches, total assets of €3 billion and a 50% market share. Due to the continuously growing customer demands for digital services, the company was able to increase the number of online banking users to 63% and the use of its app by 22%. The expectations of digital services are constantly growing. The company is proactively facing this trend and is driving forward digital customer communication

Because more and more readers read online - on PCs at work, on the move on their smartphones or at home on their tablets - digital options have increasingly moved into the focus of the editorial team.

A digital and highly flexible solution for the annual sustainability report was required which would meet the demand for sustainability and paperlessness and keep the self-contained magazine character (no blog or anything similar). With Webmag, an interactive, digital format has been created in which videos, call-to-action buttons and feedback channels can be embedded. The internal resource costs are kept low thanks to full-service creation - but small changes may be made at any time by the user. The report is published via a subdomain of the Sparkasse, which makes the connection to Sparkasse's website recognisable, but does not allow data access. An integrated solution for cookie banners and detailed settings options on the reader page ensure that the report is 100% GDPR-compliant.

Andreas Schlüter - Sparkasse UnnaKamen: „We have sent the digital sustainability report to 30,000 subscribers and received great feedback from customers, management and other Sparkasse branches. With the web-only version of the sustainability report, we save tons of paper and thereby help to protect the climate and save CO2 even in reporting. In addition, the interactive report is visually appealing and we can share it via Facebook and Instagram and use feedback channels for readers. I think we are on a trend-setting path here and can only recommend a similar implementation to other Sparkassen. We especially enjoyed the really pleasant and determined cooperation with the Webmag team, which realised all our wishes in the shortest possible time. We are looking forward to a long-term cooperation on the digitalisation of our publications.”
